I was ready to paint another flamingo with acrylic on canvas and this Hot Pink Flamingo Painting and is perfect! If you look at my Facebook videos or YouTube videos you can find this one soon! I’ll post it after I do my live on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. Central.
This is SO easy and fun to paint! You can paint it on paper, canvas, a wall, glass…. anything! Maybe paint some wine glasses and really have a paint party!
Supplies I used
I used the following paints and brushes, but anything can be used. I mean, any color and even use your fingers! Have fun with this one!
- Hot Pink
- Lime Green
This is a set of paints that will go a long way and should be almost all you need for most paintings. (Affiliate link: Amazon.com: Apple Barrel PROMOABI 18pc Matte Finish Acrylic Craft Paint Set, Assorted Colors 1, 18 Count)

Let’s trace the flamingo and leaves on to the canvas. You can do this through many methods! You can scratch pencil on the back of the drawing, flip it over on to the canvas and trace the lines with a pencil. If you have Carbon Paper simply place it shiny side down on to the canvas, place the picture over it and trace the lines…. If you can’t do either of these please let me know and we will come up with another option!
Let’s Get Painting!
Step one, take your 1″ flat brush and paint the background black. You can also buy a black canvas if you want, but I still add more black with blue paint on the background. Something about a black canvas is kind of ‘flat’ to me. If you are using the traced picture just paint around all the lines!
Using the Lime Green color (or any bright green), paint in the leaves. Make sure the black is dry first! I had to blow dry mine and repaint the green!
Paint the flowers with Hot Pink (or any other pink you have available). Leave the center black, this will look great showing through. Paint the little stem going inside the flower as well.
Now, paint the bird the Hot Pink color you are using for flowers. You can leave the beak as it will be black and white, but if you paint it pink that is okay!
Using the black paint simply use it on little bits of the leaves, flowers and use it to show ‘feathers’ on the flamingo. Don’t forget to paint the black circle for the eye and use a liner to paint the line and tip of the beak.
Now take the white paint and do the same thing as you did with the black! This time use the white for a small dot in the eye and fill in the beak as well.
I decided to add some Fuschia to the flowers and flamingo to just kind of add some depth. I made little lines like the black and white.
