The DIY tiered tray is such an easy project! And all the main pieces came from Dollar Tree! Read below to learn how to make your own DIY Tiered Tray for decorating your home on a budget!
Items I used from Dollar Tree:
- Cookie Pan
- Pie Pan
- Cake pan
- Plastic Shot Glass
Things I already had on hand:
- White Acrylic Paint
- Paint Brush
- E6000 Glue
- Door Knob
Dollar Tree Purchases
I purchased a cookie platter, a pie, a cake pan, two candle holders and a package of shot glasses (plastic found in the wedding section). I already had white paint so it wasn’t necessary to buy any more at the time. Bonus! I also had a brush and some E6000 glue. Hot glue is good for a lot of things but I do not think it is strong enough for this job.
Begin by painting all parts
I painted all of the pieces white with chalk paint to begin with, but I ended up switching to acrylic because it was much easier to paint with and did not dry as fast. This allowed more time to make sure there was enough paint on it to cover the whole thing smoothly.
Add a second coat
I finished one coat of paint and then realized it was not enough and added another coat. This needed to completely dry or the glue wouldn’t have anything to hold on to.
Time to glue the candlesticks
After the paint was dry on everything I glued two of the candle sticks together with E6000. It is important to make sure the small ends are glued together instead of the larger ends to provide more support. I made two sets of these out of the 4 candlestick I got from Dollar Tree. These also dried fully because they would slip and slide if they didn’t!
Then I took the large cookie pan and glued one set of the candlesticks to the middle of the pan and let it completely dry. Next I glued the center bottom of the pie plate to the top of the set of candlesticks that I had glued to the cookie pan. I let that completely dry as well.
The remaining candlesticks and tiers
Keeping up with the routine I glued the other set of candlesticks to the top of the pie pan and let it completely dry. Then I glued the cake pan on top of the set of candlesticks. To top it off I glued the shot glass, upside down, to the center top of the cake pan and glued an old colorful knob in the middle of the shot glass.
These wood tiered tray sets are just so cute!!! You can see a picture of some of them on my Facebook Page: Teresa Parker Art | Facebook
